Launching in Browns, London’s prestigious fashion boutique this week – artist and curator Thomas Erber has created a ‘Cabinet de Curiosites’, bringing together the worlds of fashion, art, design and travel and chosen 30 internationally renowned artists and designers to fill his ‘cabinets’ with the rarest and most unique objets d’art ever commissioned.
Lulu Guinness is amongst the 30 selected designers, creating her ‘Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder’, a bespoke bag characteristic of Lulu’s wit and charm. The cubic evening bag is covered in a luxurious black satin with an elegant wrist strap. On each side panel of the cube is a beautifully moulded hardware in the shape of a watchful eye. The brass hardware supports the crystals that surround the moulded glass eye.
The Lulu Guinness cubic bag is presented inside another larger cube. This larger cube box has a padded luxurious lining in a shocking blue. The inside lid of the box has been hand embroidered with gold text written in Lulu’s iconic handwriting reading ‘Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder’, with a hand embroidered/embellished symbol of an eye.
An event to present the launch of these one off pieces takes place this evening and the cabinet is on display at Browns for all to admire.
