If you’re looking to celebrate the new Lunar year then London has lots to offer, starting this weekend and carrying on into the next.

The Chinese New Year party in London is the biggest outside of Asia with events stretching right across the city.

A grand parade is set to fill London’s West End on Valentine’s Day in celebration of Chinese New Year and the Year of the Monkey. Expect lion dance teams, acrobatics and up-and-coming performing talent on Shaftesbury Avenue.

Trafalgar Square’s party promises firecrackers and gravity-defying high pole dances, along with acrobatics from Szechuan opera.

And it wouldn’t be the year of the monkey without a monkey-themed finale involving fireworks and a light projection on Nelson’s Column.

Fancy celebrating even sooner? Chiswick House and Garden are currently hosting a five week programme of theatre, performances art and light installations for the UK’s first Chinese lantern festival. More than 50 huge hand-made lanterns are on display including a 60 metre long dragon snaking across the lake.

Wishing everyone a happy Chinese New Year on Monday, however you choose to celebrate!
