What not to miss out on in Osaka…

Osaka Castle is one of Japan's most famous castles and plays a huge part in its history. A visit here is a fine way to take in some of Japan's 16th century architecture (the building today is a replica, but a stunning one none the less) and the many stories of its past.

If you fancy a bit of food with your history lesson, take a look around Momofoku Ando Instant Ramen Museum, where you can explore the history of ramen, one of Japan's signature dishes. You can even try hand a cooking a ramen dish or two.

Getting hungry? Dotombori is a mecca for the kuidaore food culture of Osaka and is full of small restaurants, neon lights and hidden bars. There is much to take in here - from the culinary delights to the restaurant's bright dazzling signs and designs. A stroll past many of the restaurants that line the Dotomborigawa River is a great way to choose which place to satisfy your appetite - and take in the hustle and bustle of the area.

For some of the best shopping, head to Tenjimbashi Suji Shopping Street - a 2.6 kilometer street full of shops with a high vaulted roof that makes it a spectacle every time you leave one of its many boutiques. This street is also full of many locals who hang out here, and if you want to see a film, there are many cinemas here to choose from.
