Work It

5 genius bags that are perfect for the office

After two years of working from home in jogging bottoms, not everybody is feeling altogether thrilled about a return to the office but then there are some perks, as we see it. Number one being: the work wardrobe. There is something incredibly motivating and - dare we say it - transformational – about putting together your look for the office. It’s your instant sharpener, both sartorially and mentally. It’s about dressing like you mean it so you can be prepared for the day ahead. You’re dressing to do a good job and there is such value in that.

The work bag is an extension of this idea and as such you need it to be smart, clever and practical. As it’s Lulu, our chosen bag always have that extra level of personality, too, so it’s win win. Here are our top five bags that are perfect for the return to the office.

1. Bethany means business

There are echoes of Lulu’s first ever design in Bethany. Back in 1989, Lulu created a ladylike attaché case containing convenient pockets for just about everything. It was designed for the working woman at the time, as is Bethany now thanks to its laptop-friendly size, multiple pockets to keep you super organised and the ability to carry by a shoulder strap as well as hand-held. Crafted from luxurious full-grain leather with a quilted lip ripple design and gold-toned lip buckle, this briefcase-style bag has the playful Lulu personality, too. A work bag doesn’t have to be boring, you know.

2. Day-to-night Dylan

Reminiscent of a retro Doctor's bag, everyone needs a Dylan - now in luxe snake-embossed leather. Its classic shape will never go out of style and has the advantage of being roomy enough to be practical for work but also incredibly polished so you can happily carry for your post-office dinner plans, too. It’s all in the detailing with Dylan, like the lip stud embellishment, heart shaped feet and branded zip pullers. Look closely and you’ll see it’s a Lulu.

3. Girl about town Garbo

Garbo is the cool girl’s tote. Portrait rather than the usual landscape, she has a modern tall shape and a handy choice between carrying by the grab handles or cross body. She's the ideal size for throwing in all of your workday essentials – think A4 note book, commuting novel, water bottle. We love her simple design with maximum function and the fact she has a d-ring at the front so you can personalise with charms or keyrings. Available in a whole range of colours, too.

4. Throw-it-all-in Ivy

The beauty of Ivy is its simple, roomy shape that enables you to throw in all the things you need without much thought (ideal for rushed mornings). But as well as being large enough for a laptop or A4 pad, she has hidden depths too. There’s the detachable pouch to keep things safe and the internal slip pocket to avoid that lucky dip vibe as you try to search for things. She’s also pretty. Crafted from lightweight crossgrain leather in an array of colours, look out for the gold lip pin detail and ultra soft biscuit beige lining. Final nifty feature? Internal tabs that can be pulled in to change her shape.

5. Lightweight Lyra

Lip-stamped Lyra is the chicer, more dressed up version of the canvas tote you often grab in addition to your main bag. She’s our ‘chuck-on’ Tote – large and lightweight with fun acrylic handles as well as shoulder straps for when you have to dash! We love how comfortable and easy she is to carry and her roomy size means you’ll easily fit all your work essentials, including laptop. Lyra is fun, too with her lip-stamped style and contrast stitching. Which has to be a good thing, right?
